Pre-K and K
Deborah Ripoli, Kindergarten
My name is Deborah Ripoli, and I am Kindergarten teacher.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts from National Louis University.  I have 30 years of teaching experience and earned senior teacher status.

I have received Disney Teacher Nominations, and I belong to  Who’s Who Among Teachers . I am a member of the National Catholic Educational Association, and I am a member of ASCD.

Children are not only our future but our motivation to learn more.  I believe the following quote is accurate for teaching: “I See…I Forget, I Hear…I Remember, I Do… I Understand.”  Teaching children is an adventure that requires us to continue to learn and to stretch our brains on how to reach every child every day.
  Rachel Pomykala, All Day Preschool
My name is Rachel Pomykala and was born and raised in Chicago, where Ukranian Village meets Humboldt Park. I was fortunate enough to have been bilingual in Polish my entire childhood, attending St. Helen Catholic Church every Sunday for Polish mass. At the same time, I have also been exposed to the Spanish language which has given me the drive to learn and perfect these languages as I assist students in reaching their language goals.

I received my BA in elementary education at Northeastern Illinois University with a focus in middle school language arts and socials studies, which gave me the passion for beginning my teaching career geared toward adolescents.  While teaching for the Chicago Public Schools, my principal sent us to pursue our Master’s as Reading Specialists at the University of Illinois at Chicago where I also completed an endorsement for English as a Second Language (ESL).  As I continued my career, I realized that the foundation needed to be laid appropriately for adolescent success. I decided to shift my career to early childhood in Franklin Park working as a kindergarten interventionist.
My most valuable accomplishment has been my daughter Aniela. She brings me great joy. I base my teaching in hopes students will learn the desire to do better for themselves and for those around them.
Debra Tutak, All Day Preschool
My name is Debra Tutak, and I am an All Day Preschool teacher.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in Reading from the University of Illinois.  I also hold a K-9 Certification.  I have 37 years of teaching experience.

I self-published a children's book – “When Mom Had Cancer”.  I obtained a diploma / college credit from The Institute of Children's Literature, and I am a member of the International Reading Association, Illinois Reading Council, and Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

I believe that children are our future.  I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world.  My role as a teacher is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own gardens of knowledge.  To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful.  My classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can blossom and grow.

Mary Lou Patrick, Half Day Preschool
Hi, my name is Marylou Patrick. I am the half day preschool teacher.  I graduated from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Language Arts and Social Science.  I taught Prekindergarten and Kindergarten for 8+ years. I live in Hanover Park with my husband, Todd and son, Emmett (who is currently attending St. Hubert School). We have a rescue beagle, Peanut and a handful of goldfish. I love to travel, read, and garden in my free time. I am looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning with the preschoolers. I believe that preschool is an essential part of a child’s education. It provides the child with a solid foundation to build upon through the years of learning.  I believe that students learn through play. I love to see the students engaging with each other as they explore new activities each day.
